Home Organizing Do’s and Don’ts

Home organizing do's and don'ts - Organized by Rediet

Organizing your space takes practice and commitment. Here are some do’s and don’ts to help you out on your organizing journey!

Do Make a Plan

While you can’t plan for everything, you can have a vision for your space. There are unlimited organizing options for every room in your house, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed with the choices.

We always find it helpful to take a moment to think about and plan for how you will organize each room, the color scheme you want for any organizational products you might purchase, like baskets, organizers, containers and more, and what kind of help you might need with all this.

Don’t Try to Do Everything At Once

Organizing your home is a process. It might be tempting to try and organize your space as fast as possible, but this can often be overwhelming. Instead, try to approach one room at a time, stick to

your plan for each room, and be patient with your process. You may find that you even get other ideas and inspiration as you work through each room or each section of your space!

Do Make a Budget

If you’re doing a complete overhaul of your space, you’ll probably buy a few items to help you organize. A budget will help you turn your vision into a reality without running into unexpected costs!

Don’t Change Everything Just for Organization

Your home should be a space you love. Even though you might make some changes while you organize your space, don’t get rid of things you love about your space just for organization. There are always ways to make sure your home is true to who you are and the things you like, and keep it organized too!

Do Consult an Expert

There are methods and tricks to getting your space organized that Professional Organizers have up their sleeves. Don’t be afraid to work with an expert to get your space where you want it to be. An expert can often help you find quicker, more efficient, and more aesthetically pleasing ways to organize the different rooms in your space.

Don’t Limit Your Options

You might find a great way to organize your closet today, and then find a method you’re more excited about two weeks from now. You don’t have to stick with the first thing you choose–you can always change things around as you find new methods and ideas. Be dynamic!
